Paddle Australia Workshop

Gillian, our MD, recently facilitated a Sustainability Workshop for Paddle Australia at their National Paddling Forum. The session brought together representatives from across the paddling sector to explore what sustainability is and its relevance to paddling. Participants worked collaboratively to identify paddling’s material topics.

The national association and the paddling community are already strong advocates for things like healthy waterways, community engagement, and environmental responsibility, demonstrated through events such as the Slalom World Championships. Building on this foundation, the organisation is committed to a long-term sustainability strategy to guide continued improvement across E, S, and G metrics.

A special thank you to Kim Crane, Paddle Australia’s CEO, for the invitation and for her leadership and commitment to advancing sustainability within the sport.

Decommissioning Sundowner

Gillian and Lucy attended Subsea Energy Australia’s Decommissioning Sundowner, an evening of insightful discussion focused on the evolving landscape of decommissioning. The event featured industry leaders sharing forecasts for upcoming short- and long-term decommissioning work, alongside reflections from over 40 years of experience in safety, engineering and regulation. This event highlighted the importance of having these conversations in industry earlier in the project lifecycle — where proactive decisions can minimise long timeframes and avoid drawn-out approvals processes.
